THIS IS THE PLACE monument and park

Mom LOVED this place. Said it's better than NAVUOO! She was loving it, each and every shop until we started walking uphill with the blazing sun coming down on us! She stopped at a house, looked in, came outside and said, "Ya'll go on! I'm not going! It's too hot and uphill." We laughed and laughed. She stayed put in the shade and we hiked up a little ways to Mary Fielding's Home. After the fun of the park, we watched the Pioneer movie they were showing then headed home. Brigham Young's Farm house and Gordon B. Hinkley's mom's ancestry log home were our favorite spots today.

PIONEER DAY! Days of 47' Parade

Lucky for us Laurie's Brother & Sister-in-law (Craig and Darci Johnson) camped out the night before the parade to get us PRIMO spots for watching the parade. The Prophet, Thomas S. Monson, was in a car and as we watched him get closer and closer to us the crowd got quiet, calm and just stood up and waved. It was a very tender moment. Total respect in the crowd for the mantel in which he holds. He looked RIGHT AT Leanna for that great picture you see above. Travis and Mom have the tie for the most shocked and smiling spectator as he drove by. After that we could have all died happy. lol Anyway, we stayed just until the end and headed to our next stop for the day - THIS IS THE PLACE Monument.

Mount Timp PHOTO SHOOT- July 24, 2011

Leanna was happy to take pictures of her Uncle Trav. We took them all up to the most beautiful place around...Mount Timp. Waterfalls, trees, perfect weather, long drive up and back down the canyon listening to Mo-Tab. It was breath-taking. Travis looks super handsome huh? New tie and a great spirit. :) We even took them to the "3 Story Park" in American Fork to overlook the view of the West with the Temple in the distance. Utah Lake and everything. We could see fireworks again this night. It was an amazing view. Travis even braved the three story slide in his suit! Leanna, Krista and Travis have so much fun together.

FIREWORKS and MARSHMALLOWS

After shopping all afternoon we drove by the Mt. Timp LDS Temple right by Laurie's house. It was closed that Saturday due to celebration in Utah for Pioneer Day Weekend. We decided since SO MANY fireworks were going off outside we would roast Marshmallows. The wind was sooo strong that night and it took us FOREVER to light the pit. After about an hour we got it rolling and found the GIGANTIC marshmallows Laurie had bought and had a blast. Travis' mom, Rachel, thought we would catch on fire with the way the wind was blowing. Oh the funny things she said. :) Luckily we didn't have any accidents and were able to squeeze a little fun to finish our day. Yet, the fireworks continued all through the night.

Last minute shopping at the MISSIONARY MALL

Travis needed a few more items before checking in to the MTC. COAT=necessity in Mendoza, Argentina! It actually gets cold there. We also got him a few new ties and then headed to In N Out Burger with dessert at Farr's Fresh. It was a pretty awesome day.

Headed to UTAH!!! First stop - GRAND CANYON!

Tom and Travis overruled mom on the way to Manti. She wasn't too exited to go to the Grand Canyon. Her response was, "What are we gonna DO? Look at the big hole in the ground?" hahahaha They did! Stayed in a cabin and enjoyed the day together looking at the beautiful "Hole in the Ground". Now on to MANTI!
